JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Ministry of Housing announced that work permits shall only be issued or renewed in the presence of a lease contract registered in the Ejar network.
The decision to link the two is an implementation of a Cabinet’s resolution dated Feb. 13, 2017, which instructed the Ministry of Labor and Social Development not to issue or renew work permits without a lease contract registered in the Ejar network.
The two ministries agreed on starting the implementation of the new resolution from September.
The agreement between the two ministries aims to ensure expatriates’ documentation of lease contracts in the network, promoting the enrichment of advanced services and contributing to the development of electronic transformation.
The Housing Ministry is working on developing the rental sector in the Kingdom in a balanced manner, through finding sustainable solutions for the challenges of the real estate market in the context of protecting the rights of the tenant (the consumer), the landlord (the investor) and the realtor.
The initiative aims to enhance the services of the real-estate sector.
The agreement offers many advantages to internet users, such as benefiting from online services related to relevant authorities. The Housing Ministry also provides services to ensure the procedure of documentation on the Ejar network, including the application Wousata Iqariyoun (realtors) offering both the landlords and tenants the address of the nearest realtor registered in Ejar. The ministry is working on launching other services.
