DAMMAM: The Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) in the US announced that due to coronavirus, it has stopped receiving scholarship students on its premises, and is communicating with them remotely via video calls instead.
“A visual call with the scholarship service center will be provided to communicate remotely with students and follow up their requests,” the SACM said on its Twitter account.
“A link will be provided to all scholarship students soon and work will be done in this manner until further notice.”
The SACM said this step is in line with the decisions of some states that have declared a state of emergency, where schools and universities have been closed and studies are temporarily being carried out remotely.

“Given the spread of the epidemic globally ... in addition to the possibility of increasing the chances of infection due to traveling, and the absence of a statement from the (US) Immigration Department regarding the return of scholarship students in the event of their departure at this time, we recommend everyone to follow the recommendations of health authorities and finish their studies remotely wherever they are,” the SACM tweeted.
