JEDDAH: The value of Saudi date exports in 2019 reached SR865 million ($230.5 million), up 14.6 percent from 2018, when the value was SR755 million, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.
According to the General Authority for Statistics, 184,000 tons of dates were exported in 2019, up 13 percent from 2018, when 162,000 tons were exported.
Saudi Arabia has over 30 million palm trees that annually produce 1.4 million tons of the finest dates.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the National Center for Palms and Dates and other relevant authorities have facilitated export procedures, in line with the goal of the Vision 2030 reform plan to increase Saudi non-oil exports.t
